PRESS RELEASE: Requests Full Investigation of
Southwest Baptist University,
Resignation of Pres. Dr. C. Pat Taylor,
Staff Members, Trustees, Legal Team

While attempting to participate in the NCA hearings (see this post) last week, Marie re-bruised her previous injuries -- with the third attempt being the the most severe. She was obliged to rest and heal several more days.

However, after receiving yet another threat to her life this week, Marie has opted to pursue a more public effort, which will begin with a PRESS RELEASE to the Missouri Baptist Convention requesting: full investigation of the unethical, illegal and immoral conduct of SBU staff, resignation of the SBU President Dr. C. Pat Taylor, disbarment of the SBU legal staff and dismissal of SBU staff and Trustees.

Posting more Wednesday, September 9, 2009.

And the Children Shall Lead Them: Southwest Baptist University Students to Assist in Inquiry into Misconduct by MO Baptist Exec. Board, Others

Welcome Back, Southwest Baptist University Students!

Abandoning a long-held (but unrealistic) belief that a Christian student's primary purpose should be to give attention to classwork, Marie has enlisted the help of Southwest Baptist University students into seeking an inquiry of the continuing unethical conduct by Southwest Baptist University staff, administration, and trustees and Missouri Baptist Executive Board officials.

Marie writes: "The 'grown-ups' just can't handle this alone, apparently. They need the vision and insight of those still closer to the innocence of childhood to explain that there is no way to 'theologize' around the fact that a difference between right and wrong and good and evil ... and that Christians should be on the side of right and good, not wrong and evil."

Considerable information will be posted over the next three days.

Transformation: Judy Leininger, Dr. Ray Leininger's Wife, Journeys Home

On Wednesday, August 12, 2009, Judy Leininger, 69, the wife of Rev. Dr. Ray Leininger, was transformed, having passed from this life at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri from a severe heart infection.

Her family and friends gather today to celebrate her life.

Even in his grief, Dr. Ray Leinginger's life now doubles as he lives life for two: sharing the richness of his own life ... but also recounting with his eleven grandchildren the joys and sorrows of his life together with their grandmother, who was too soon taken from them.

We wish Judy a sweet and joyous homecoming and offer our condolences to all those who suffer in this loss.

Her obituary is here.

Department Of Education Intervention and Investigation of Southwest Baptist University and Missouri Baptist Convention Officials

Department Of Education Intervention and Investigation of
Southwest Baptist University
and Missouri Baptist Convention Officials

At the request of the Department of Education, Marie and her representatives have summarized and described the unethical, financially fraudulent, often violent and/or potentially illegal conduct that she has endured from the Southwest Baptist University staff, faculty and administration (as well as individuals associated with SBU's "parent company" and affiliates -- the Missouri Baptist Convention and its affiliated churches and supporters).

Marie has agreed to cooperate in an investigation of the blatant participation of Southwest Baptist University and Missouri Baptist Convention officials in this misconduct.

In addition,
Marie seeks the removal of her academic records (by the end of August 2009) from Southwest Baptist University, so that she may enroll in her new university -- where she will receive specialized medical care and insurance, academic accommodation and assistance.

HATE CRIMES CHRONICLES: Believing Missouri Baptist Lives -- Not Their Lies

HATE CRIMES CHRONICLES:
Living and Dying for Missouri Baptist and Southwest Baptist University
Believing Missouri Baptist Lives -- Not Their Lies

So, where are we with this? What's going on now?

This week, Marie summarized her thoughts in a letter to friends:
... Perhaps it's time to face reality. Maybe it's time to believe what Southwest Baptist University and the Missouri Baptist Convention are doing -- not what they say they are going to do.

It's time to believe their lives -- and not their lies.

In order to resolve this, there needs to be some basis for trust between the parties. As it stands, however, the brutal truth is that I -- for one -- have no foundation on which to base trust in them, their motives, or their methods.

Beyond this, many of the participating individuals are rightfully concerned that once their part is publicly disclosed, they will be subject to discipline, dismissal ... and worse.
(There is much in this that has not been made public.)

I can understand their fears.

From what I have seen, I have no confidence that the officials at Southwest Baptist University and the Missouri Baptist Convention (or, First Baptist Church of Bolivar, to a degree) understand and implement even the most rudimentary of civilized conventions and concepts -- such as, fair play, which, according to recent primate research, even chimpanzees understand at some deep level.

Even an outsider can see that Missouri Baptists treat each worse than animals. Again and again and again, I have witnessed them lie, steal, connive, cheat, and brutalize each other ... and then justify those actions in the name of Jesus Christ.

And, please remember, this is how they have treated their so-called friends and allies! Those deemed enemies fare even worse.

As I have attempted to communicate with these individuals and institutions, I return to the same nagging question: Do I even want a continuing relationship with these people?

Even if we were able to effect some kind of reconciliation, wouldn't it be a matter of time before I did something that displeased one of them? Then, wouldn't they be after me like a murderous pack of hounds ... again?

If I weren't forced into this situation by their crimes, wouldn't I avoid these kinds of troubled and troubling people like the plague?

But, when I have said (numerous times over several decades):
All right, enough! Even though I recognize that your actions have been unethical, immoral, fraudulent and (even) illegal, I still care for your well-being as people and wish the best for you.

Although I don't agree with your philosophies or methods, let's part on friendly terms:
cease your unethical actions, acknowledge your wrong-doing (privately, if necessary), pay what is owed and settle the debt, and I will go on my way.
Each time, though, the response from one group or the other has been continued slanderous subterfuge, or even more cruel and physically savaging ploys.

All the while, they chant the Name of the All-Forgiving Christ, as though Jesus were merely a tribal totem ... or a mascot.

I don't understand.

More importantly, I'm not sure I want to understand, anymore. Do I really want to know what misery lurks in the heart of these people and their dark motives?

As a creature of the Light, I do not dwell (or even dally) comfortably or easily in the Darkness.

I have to ask, honestly: Is this really Christianity? Do these people actually represent Christ in any comprehensible way? Or, is this
yet another deception -- like so much else in their individual and collective relationships?

Is it time to face the fact that attempting reconciliation may be a logistical impossibility? Since no one in authority will properly and righteously demonstrate judgment, discipline, and authority, this exercise in "reconciliation" is worse than herding cats ... and half of Noah's menagerie!

Even with the aid of the Holy Spirit, maybe this just can't be done -- given the circumstances and parties involved.

Having reached this conclusion, I have turned to a different strategy, which will implement assistance from several secular agencies and authorities.

Though I am not happy about this turn of events, I understand it as a necessity. Although my kindness is unlikely to be reciprocated, I will use compassion, caution and care in dealing with others (even with those others who have sought to injury me).

No, I am not angry, disgusted, or perturbed, nor am I seeking revenge.

My motivation is simply this: I am looking to escape, to escape to a healthy community where people
genuinely care for each other and invest in each others lives, where God can dwell in people's hearts and lives, where I can be who God made me to be. ...

The details of this new strategy will be outlined in a series of posts and letters, beginning today, Friday (July 31) and this weekend (Aug. 1 -2):

1. Letter to the pastors (past and present) of First Baptist Church of Bolivar, Missouri -- Rev. Billy Russel (the current pastor, who should be returning from a missions trip this week), Dr. Rodney Reeves (former interim pastor) and Dr. Ray Leininger (former pastor)
.

2. Letter to Dr. David Tolliver, current executive director of the Missouri Baptist Convention and recent member of the Southwest Baptist University Board of Trustees, which, in part, requests an EMERGENCY MEETING of the Missouri Baptist Executive Board to be held no later than the last two weeks of September 2009 (see here).

... and
3. Formal Letter of Complaint to Southwest Baptist University's Accreditation agency, Higher Learning Commission of North Central Association (www.ncahigherlearningcommission. org).

Violations of Southwest Baptist University's Accreditation Will Be Raised During the Emergency Meeting of Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board

After consulting a number of agencies and authorities yesterday, Marie has reluctantly accepted that -- in spite of her reservations -- the long-unanswered accreditation complaint against Southwest Baptist University must also be raised at the EMERGENCY MEETING of the Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board, which Marie has requested for the last two weeks of September 2009 (see here).

Therefore, Marie's complaint to Southwest Baptist University's accreditation agency will also be posted shortly (in the next day or so).

Your prayers are appreciated.

PRIVILEGED LAWLESSNESS and THE IRREDEEMABLE EVIL: Pride, Privilege and the Right to Do Wrong at Southwest Baptist University

Later today, we will be posting Marie's letter to Dr. David Tolliver requesting an EMERGENCY MEETING of the MISSOURI BAPTIST CONVENTION EXECUTIVE BOARD regarding the immoral, unethical and potentially criminal conduct of Southwest Baptist University officials and staff and other Missouri Baptist Convention-related personnel.

In the letter, Marie requests this meeting be held during the last two weeks of September 2009 and that the issue be taken up during the October 2009 annual meeting of the larger convention messengers, if necessary.

Until the September meeting, however, Marie will continue to extend assistance in reconciling the situation and providing a Process of Restorative Justice.

The Escape: Leaving Southwest Baptist University & the Missouri Baptist Convention for a New Life

The semester is over.

At this moment, Dr. R. Philip Roberts, the fourth president of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City (which is wholly owned by the Southern Baptist Convention),
is about to give the commencement address (see here).

Congratulations to Southwest Baptist University graduates! We wish you every happiness and hope.

Our joy for your accomplishments is tempered, though, by the fact that
Marie will not be receiving her diploma from Southwest Baptist University this year.

As has been made clear to her by SBU officials and allies, Marie is not likely to receive a degree from SBU e-v-e-r -- in spite of the fact that she has only a couple of classes left to finish her degree.

This much is plain: Marie is not wanted and is not welcome at Southwest Baptist University ... and is not (perhaps never was) a member of the "family" of Southwest Baptist University.

Nonetheless, Marie has been accepted at another university and will need to clear her record in order to transfer this summer and move to her new community and university.

We grieve for her that, regardless of how the situation is resolved, Marie will leave Southwest Baptist University with so much less than when she came.

As a friend wrote:
I know that when Marie's story is whispered in the halls of Heaven, the angels hang their heads and weep for the shame.

There is something horrifically wrong with a supposedly "Christian" community that abuses a student this severely and for this long -- evidently without the slightest remorse, or even a hint of disciplinary action from those who claim authority.

I only hope that this summer she can escape them, so that she can have some small chance at happiness in life.

Recovering from the Easter Incidents and the Storm

Despite a series of "chemical exposure incidents" -- which began shortly before Easter (April 12) and continued (on and off) for more than a month (see details here) -- Marie is recovering well.

Additionally, Marie sustained some milder injuries resulting from the disarray in the aftermath of Friday's (May 8) tornadic storms and straight-line (derecho) winds.

The electrical and telephone service has -- finally
(after five days) -- been restored (as of Tuesday, May 12).

Detailing the Compassion Commission

In the last few weeks, Marie has reinstated The Compassion Commission -- though its duration may be shortened.

Of necessity, therefore, the scheduling of events, including the Formal Complaint to Southwest Baptist University's accreditation agency, has been accelerated.

The Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board, which claims ownership and control of SBU, will be meeting AT Southwest Baptist University on July 13-14 (see details here).

Marie is requesting that the situation be resolved by mid-July 2009.

The details of Compassion Commission for Southwest Baptist University, First Baptist Church of Bolivar and the Missouri Baptist Convention are to be posted on this blog over the Memorial Day weekend [Delayed!
A change in circumstances has delayed the resumption of posting for several weeks. Thankfully, the situation is now resolving ... and posting should resume on this blog on July 12 - 14 (Sunday - Tuesday) -- beginning with the letter to Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Director Dr. David Tolliver and the entire Missouri Baptist Executive Board, which will be meeting at Southwest Baptist University on July 13 -14.]

~Brief Update on Saturday Morning, April 11~

Saturday morning: Marie's condition is improving after several "chemical exposure incidents" on Thursday and Friday.

For the moment, Marie has survived the worst of the threat to her well-being (see details
here). The potential harm, however, still looms for several more weeks.

Of necessity, therefore, the scheduling of events, including the Formal Complaint to Southwest Baptist University''s accreditation agency, has been accelerated.

The Compassion Commission has been reinstated, though its duration may be shortened.

Deadly Threat: Is Marie's Health and Life - Once Again - Under Seige by the "Allies and Operatives" of the Southern Baptist Convention?

This morning, we are deeply concerned for Marie's well-being.

Yesterday, Marie was notified of a situation that will -- if conducted as planned -- undeniably result in further injury to Marie's health.

At the very least, the situation will weaken Marie's health so that she will be unable to proceed with negotiations and would be unlikely to survive a relocation.

Alternatives methods of dealing with the situation -- which would not cause harm to Marie but which would accommodate and accomplish all stated objectives -- have been repeatedly offered and refused.

In several past incidents, such alternatives were (with more or less success) suggested and implemented; however, in this instance, it seems that the objective (at least in some part and at some level) is to purposefully harm Marie as a retaliation for the past "hassles" and inconveniences.

Though the individuals involved have been informed (both orally and in writing over a number of months) that Marie will suffer certain harm if they proceed in the described manner, thus far, there has been little assurance that proper cautions will be taken.

Without doubt, Marie is (to use their terms) "in the way" and "causing problems."

Those involved in the threatened harm are members of a large Southern Baptist congregation and are Republican supporters and fans of Congressman (who is running for Senator) Roy Blunt and his son, former Governor Matt Blunt -- which, we suspect, may go a long way in explaining their reluctance to preserve Marie's well-being.

Though there are still several days to work out a compromise, Marie is increasingly (and uncharacteristically) less optimistic about a resolution.

A friend has advised extreme caution in dealing with all Southern Baptists:
Marie, you are far too naive in dealing with Southern Baptists. As a previously slave-holding sect, Southern Baptists have deep cultural and psychological roots in the domination and oppression of other peoples. In their view, it is always and in all ways about them.

It is dangerous to live, to work, or to do business with them. Even if, at first, they put up a good front, when they no longer see an advantage to the situation, eventually, they join the Dark Side -- with a viscous religious fervor.

They can't 'win' by playing fairly and by acting with decency, so they have to lie, steal, cheat, slander, threaten, kill and destroy to get their way.

When they can't get the job done themselves, they 'hire it out' to other allies and operatives. They would happily shove a disabled and wheelchair- bound person down a flight of stairs ... if that person was 'in the way.'

Then, they would claim the 'Blood of Jesus' has washed away their sins and tell the surviving victims that because Jesus has forgiven them, everyone needs to "just get over it."
Marie argued against this, pointing out that this in itself is a stereotyping view of Southern Baptists. These particular people have not joined the Dark Side.

At least, not completely ... and not yet.

They are tired and irritable; it's family pressure, a terrible economy -- having a bad hair day.

Maybe it's a misunderstanding. Surely, they don't intend to cause harm.

At least, we hope.

And, we still pray that they will remain in the Light. But, this time, Marie isn't at all confident that will remain true.

We would appreciate your prayers for this situation.

A Concession to Evil at Southwest Baptist University and the Missouri Baptist Convention

Today ((Tuesday), we hope to post an Update
on the workings of the Compassion Commission -- especially pertaining to the slanderous abuse and harassment by Southwest Baptist University's National Direct Student loan officer (which has not yet been discussed publicly) and the inquiry by SBU's accrediting agency (much, but not all, of which has been alluded to publicly).

This time, Dr. C. PAT TAYLOR, who holds the title of Chief Executive Officer and president of Southwest Baptist University, we would ask that, for the sake of the University, you actually READ the letters and TAKE the phone calls from the various agencies involved ... and from Marie.

Reference will be made to the events described in:

What is the Compassion Commission?: Is it Time for the Restorative Justice Process ...Yet?

Compassion Commission & Kindred Hearts Ministries: Sundering and Sowing of New Seeds of Life for Southwest Baptist University and the Missouri Baptist Convention

Is it time... yet?

Although this past week, the Spring Break slowed some "visible" progress, much behind-the-scene preparation has now been completed -- especially related to Marie's relocation, medical care, and her enrollment in a new university.

Yes, this Restorative Justice Process can still be initiated by Easter and completed by mid-May or early June -- which will allow her to begin the Summer term at her new university, where she can receive competent and compassionate medical care and will become an integrated and valued member of a richly-caring and vibrant academic community.

By tolerating (even applauding and assisting) the long-term unethical and slanderous (and even criminal) conduct of Southwest Baptist University officials and personnel, Southwest Baptist University and the Missouri Baptist Convention officials have made it impossible for Marie to remain within the Southwest Baptist University "family".

Marie would like to move on -- elsewhere -- to enjoy what life she has left.

Conversation on the Dissolution of Covenant

Latest Update: Sunday, March 22, 2009 about 10:00 pm
Next Postings over Several Days: Monday - Wednesday, March 23 - 25!

_________________________________________

As she shared with friends her letter to Micheal Whitehead, the Missouri Baptist Convention attorney (see #2 in Progress List below), one friend interrupted to ask:

"But, Marie, you have declared the Covenant with Southwest Baptist University and First Baptist Church of Bolivar as 'long-since and obviously broken' and asked for restitution/restoration, reconciliation (of fellowship), and then dissolution of the Covenant?"

"Yes," answered Marie, "Shouldn't this be done in an orderly manner? I am not an oath breaker. It is they who repeatedly broke Covenant. Even after exhaustive efforts, they refused to hear me or my petition for ..."

"But," the friend broke in once again, "Maybe they don't even understand what a covenant is?"

Marie laughed, as others smiled, but her friend stood firm, insisting: "Are you sure they even know what a covenant is?"

"Please don't take offense, I appreciate you counsel, as always ... but what you are saying is impossible. How can they claim to be Christians and not understand what a covenant is?
" Marie asked, incredulously. By definition, they are in Covenant relationship with Christ and through Him to other believers in the Body."

"Yes, but, they [at First Baptist Church in Bolivar and Southwest Baptist University] are 'institutional organizations' ; they aren't in covenanted relationship with one another. They're more like a collection of believers; they come and go as they please. Maybe they don't understand the rights and responsibilities of the covenanted partnership."

"Honestly, that's a bit ridiculous. How can they even be a church or a church-related university if they aren't covenanted to one another?"

"Maybe that's the problem. Maybe you need to explain it to them."

"You're kidding ... right? They even call each other family! Are you sincerely suggesting that I have to explain what a covenant relationship is ... to a Christian university and a church?!"

"Maybe, while you are at it, you ought to explain who Jesus is," another friend chimed in, which broke the tension, as several lighthearted snickers faded into an uneasy silence.

Her friend continued, earnestly: "Marie, hear me. If it had been one of us, wouldn't you have charged in there, counted down the claims to their faces, and required that the situation be made right, as much as possible? Of course you would have. Because that is what Christians do: They keep the Covenant! And, Marie, consider this, the Scripture does not beat around the bush: Oathbreakers -- those who break Covenant -- do not inherit the Kingdom. Perhaps -- for some of them, at least -- their salvation depends on it."

After another silence,
Marie conceded. "Alright, I have heard you. As you suggest, I'll try to explain it to them one more time -- but it's the brief version. Let me sleep on it."

Marie's letter to Michael Whitehead will be posted shortly.

______PROGRESS REPORT: Wednesday, March 18______

There has been another late night chemical attack -- the fourth in the last six months, which involved the use of an unknown petrochemical, probably not a pesticide.

[Although, as Marie pointed out (not completely in jest), these days its getting harder tell, due to deterioration of the air quality in the Springfield Metro area in recent years. For example, the Air Quality Index today is 75 (Moderate), while yesterday's AQI was 125 (Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups).]

Although Marie was uninjured, it become increasingly clear that First Baptist Church of Bolivar requires assistance.

This is not necessarily a reflection on the leadership abilities of the pastor Rev. Billy Russell. He inherited an unimaginably complex situation, which has no quick or easy answers. Nevertheless, the hatred and anger needlessly stirred up against Marie has become too great an obstacle to overcome within the confines of small-town politics and personalities.

Although Marie believes that the body of Christ can accomplish all things, apparently that does not hold true for the institutional church in a small, (Christian) college town.

We are sincerely sorry that this could not be resolved in more discrete manner.

However, much of the Trinity Contract is an attempt to resolve the harm that
Marie's injuries (and the subsequent abuse) has brought into OTHER people's lives and families. Marie is now concerned, though, that bringing attention to their suffering may do more harm to them than good -- and, thereby, making an impossibly bad situation even worse for them.

For this reason, this morning, Marie is contacting the Missouri Baptist Convention and several other authorities to request assistance.

The Packet Pick-up has been SUSPENDED, until it can be supervised by Missouri Baptist Convention officials and Micheal Whitehead's office (the MBC attorney).

The letter to the Missouri Baptist Convention -- in which she explains the situation and asks for immediate action and resolution of the matter during the April 13-14 Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board Meeting -- will be posted shortly, along with several others.

Thieves and Thugs: NDSL Fraud, Intimidation and Abuse Charged in Complaint Filed against Southwest Baptist University

In reinstating the complaint against Southwest Baptist University and the Missouri Baptist Convention (see
here), Marie has been instructed to initiate a complaint with the National Direct Student Loan (NDSL) authorities concerning the charges of fraud, intimidation, and abuse.

After carefully considering the recommendation through prayer and consultation with others in her church, Marie initiated the initial interview with the NDSL authorities and received the paperwork – today.

Marie must clear the NDSL loan in order to enroll in her new university for the summer semester and receive health insurance benefits and treatment through the medical clinic, which specifically treats occupational and industrial chemical injuries – including organophosphate and solvent poisoning.

As one elder of Marie’s church said:
Christianity does not give license to steal without consequences and it is obscene that a Christian institution should think that such blasphemous conduct – to steal in the name of Christ -- represents righteous living.

Details to follow later today ... and throughout the week.

Dear Rev. Billy and Regina Russell :

I apologize for the delay in arranging the Reconciliation Forum, as
I had discussed in my two letters (dated March 6, 2009 - here - and
March 11, 2009 - here)

As a differently-abled person, I must rely on others to assist me in a
range of tasks that most people take for granted. In relying
on this help,
I must abide by the schedules and limitations of my assistants.

Such was the case last week.

This week, however, I would like to proceed with the coordination of an
electronic Reconciliation Forum, whereby we may address
a variety of
issues, particularly related to my letter to First Baptist Church of Bolivar,
Missouri dated November 11, 2007.

[Early next week], I request that you (one or both) retrieve a packet
of materials related to the coordination of the Forum.

[... Instructions given as to location and time to pick up the packet.]

The packet [... will] be clearly marked with your names ... .

There is no need to knock on the door, or to speak to anyone.

However, so that I may have confirmation that you have received the
materials, please sign and leave the enclosed receipt ... .

You have my written permission to be on the premises for this purpose,
though I regret that no one will welcome you.

There will be no dangers from dogs on the grounds.

Both of my dogs were killed as a result of one of the more than a dozen nighttime/early morning pesticide attacks and the consequent illnesses,
including seizures, convulsions, frothing and bleeding lungs.

(For years, these attacks occurred -- like clockwork -- within one or two
days of EVERY occasion that I requested food, utility, energy assistance.)

[For those who asked, THIS is why,
since this statement (here) in 1996,
Marie has received no local, state, or federal funds or assistance.

To this day, Marie has received no assistance from a church/
church-related
organization, though she asked over a hundred
churches or parachurch
organizations for help.]

There are no cats or kittens playing on the porch, who will leap
from their perches to brush against your leg, either.

My outdoor cats were killed by the pesticide attacks – the youngest,
still ill from a previous midnight assault, was apparently stolen out
of the yard, repeatedly run over, mutilated, and thrown over the fence,
for good measure.

I am sorry that you will hear no voice to welcome you.

Even the ducks, who would have quacked an excited, friendly greeting
to you have been silenced: One morning, someone trapped the flock
between the shed and the fence and systematically broke the necks
of more than a dozen of them, heaping them into a neat pile.

And no spring-budding flowers will wave salutations to you, for they
have been constantly trampled and poisoned.

Instead, please accept the greetings of humble voices: the soft song
of the spring birds and the chatter of the squirrels, who are nesting in
the sunlight-reaching trees.

Again, I apologize that I must divert your attention to such a trivial task
as retrieving packages, but few of my helpers will volunteer to enter
the grounds of First Baptist Church of Bolivar – for fear of reprisals
against their families or businesses.

[ .... ]

Thank you sincerely for your assistance in retrieving these materials.

Praying for Your Wisdom, Integrity and Prosperity,

Marie O'Hara

Economic Reshuffle: FORWARD -- But, Two Steps Forward and ONE Step Back with Reconciliation Forum

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

For many, the Economic Downturn has caused a considerable reshuffle: forward -- but, TWO steps forward and ONE step back.

In my last fax (dated Friday, March 6, 2009 - see here), I indicated that I would be contacting you by mail regarding a number of issues, including my previous letter dated November 11, 2007.

In that correspondence, I indicated that it was (and remains) my intention to coordinate an electronic Reconciliation Forum – through which we may address these issues.

However, after several years of waiting and praying, I have received confirmation that I will be a “probable candidate” for inclusion in a long-term study on chemical injury, which is cooperatively funded and sponsored by several major universities – including my new university.

In order to qualify for the (fully-paid) medical evaluation, testing, and eventual treatment, I must be relocated by mid-May or early June. Therefore, several matters require my immediate attention.

I regret that I will be unable to complete the preparations for the Reconciliation Forum this week. (I do not multi-task as well as I once did: Unfortunately, the days when I could type one term paper while simultaneously dictating another paper to a friend are long gone.)

However, with the help of friends, the preparation for the Reconciliation Forum is nearing completion. I do not anticipate that the delay will extend over three or four more days, but I request your patience in re-scheduling this Reconciliation Forum for some time next week.

In any event, I will contact you again before Sunday, March 15.

In the interim, I commend to you the beautifully-written Official Kansas State Proclamation by Kansas Governor Kathleen Sibelius, the nominee for head of the Department of Health and Human Services, which reads:

WHEREAS, people of all ages throughout the world have developed illnesses from Toxic Injury; and

WHEREAS, Toxic Injury is often characterized by medical intolerance to very small amounts of air pollution, petrochemicals, and other toxins found in our everyday products and environment; and it can be caused by short-term or chronic exposure to one or more chemicals, frequently pesticides and solvents. There are diagnostic codes readily available for toxic effects of many chemicals found in our everyday environments and surroundings; and

WHEREAS, toxic injury may include multiple, often disabling illnesses and can be life-threatening. It is a chronic debilitating condition for which there is no known cure, causing serious detriments on society; and it is crucial for those suffering with toxic injury to have the support and understanding of their families, friends, and society; and

WHEREAS, the prevalence of these illnesses and the lack of knowledge and qualified doctors warrant further education in this field for the public in general, future as well as practicing doctors, dentist, rescue personnel as well as other healthcare, social service, rehabilitation, housing, architects, HVAC designers and installers, building maintenance and cleaning personnel, school and employer/supervisory persons at schools, workplaces and public facilities and pest control personal; and

WHEREAS, further education is needed in this field for the public in general because the power of knowledge can save precious lives;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, KATHLEEN SEBELIUS, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF KANSAS,

Do hereby proclaim May, 2008 as

TOXIC INJURY AWARENESS & EDUCATION MONTH

In Kansas and urge all citizens to join in this observance.

As you may know, former Missouri Governor Matt Blunt -- whose father, Congressman Roy Blunt, and family were members of your congregation -- followed the decade-long tradition among Missouri governors (and a growing majority of other governors) in a similar Proclamation on Illness for Toxic Injury and Chemically-Induced Injury.

(Former Governor Matt Blunt’s Proclamation may be accessed at : http://www.mcsbeaconofhope.com/06_Missouri_Proclamation.htm.)

Again, though it may require a bit of reshuffling, I am looking forward to the Reconciliation Forum this coming week.

Please look for my next letter within the next several days.

Praying for Your Wisdom, Integrity and Prosperity,

Marie O’Hara
